At the beginning of 2024, Pietro made the deliberate decision to transform his participation in this year’s Triennale competition into an opportunity to create an extraordinary instrument one that would embody his artistic vision and technical expertise.
For years, Pietro has honed his craft by reinterpreting or emulating historically signifcant instruments, developing a meticulous eye for detail and a skilled hand in the process.
However, the time has come for him to venture beyond these influences and embark on a project that is entirely his own.
This violin represents the first creation of Pietro's original model. Its design is distinguished by elegant proportions, with elongated, softly rounded corners that contribute to its graceful silhouette. The ff-holes are set at a subtle angle, adding a dynamic quality to the instrument's appearance, while the scroll features a high arched swan neck, showcasing Pietro’s attention to detail and mastery of form. This violin posses a sound that has filled us with pride already. From high to low the sound is brilliant and demands attention.
The development of the varnish was a journey in itself, requiring several trials before Pietro achieved the perfect hue to enhance the natural beauty of the materials. Now, with the instrument complete, this violin is set to embark on its own journey one that Pietro hopes will be filled with remarkable music and enduring legacy.
Additional Information
Wood
We exclusively use a selection of high-quality tonewoods when crafting our instruments. The maple wood is most commonly of Balkan origin, but we also use locally sourced Italian maple, known as Oppio, which has a higher density and a distinctive greyish hue that lends itself well to antique-style varnishes. Our spruce wood for the soundboard comes from Val di Fiemme, where a unique microclimate fosters a regular growth pattern, making it renowned worldwide for its use in instrument making.
Sound
The sound of this model is deep and resonant, with clear projection and balanced tonal quality across the strings. It is the result of years of experimentation and comparison with previous instruments.Varnish
The varnish we use is an oil-based varnish made with natural resins and pigments. Although the base formula has remained the same for several years, the results vary slightly each time, adding to the uniqueness of each instrument.Dimensions

About Pietro Iotti
Pietro Iotti was born in 1995 in Parma, Italy. Growing up in a musical family, he picked up the guitar at an early age. However, his insatiable curiosity about how things work led him to approach a guitar maker as a teenager and ask if he could help build his own instrument. This experience sparked a lasting passion for the art of lutherie. In 2014, Pietro began studying at the Parma School of Violin Making under the guidance of many distinguished teachers, including the renowned Renato Scrollavezza. It was during his time at the school that he met his future partner and wife, Agnete with whom he started their workshop in 2019.Personalize
