Giovanni Battista Guadagnini a name that stands proudly alongside the likes of Antonio Stradivari and Giuseppe Guarneri as one of the most renowned makers of his time. Born in 1711, Guadagnini's instruments are a testament to his extraordinary craftsmanship, each one reflecting the city in which it was created.

During his years in Parma, Guadagnini enjoyed the patronage of the Duke, a favorable period that lasted until 1766 when the Duke passed away. His successor, lacking his father’s appreciation for the arts, began dismantling the court’s institutions. By 1771, it was clear that both Guadagnini and his clients would soon lose their positions. Foreseeing this, Guadagnini chose to sever his ties with the court and set off for his next destination.

This violin is our effort to perfect the delicate style of Guadagnini's Parma period. The elongated, refined corners and the oval-shaped ff-holes curiously placed higher on the table which causes the notches to be lower are all distinctive features of this period. Its voice resonates beautifully alongside the other two violins, completing the harmony of our quintet.
