Guadagnini's instruments from the Piacenza period display distinctive features: purfling set close to the edge, narrow and pointed corners, widely spaced ff-holes, and scrolls with a narrow, upright back.
In this cello, we have worked to faithfully reflect those characteristics. One particularly notable detail is the scroll, whose curl extends well beyond the usual termination point near twelve o'clock. Tonally, the instrument is both powerful and clear, providing a strong, resonant foundation for the completed quintet.
