The back is carved from a unique piece of local Italian maple wood called “Oppio”. These precious piece of wood fell into our hands thanks to a wonderful friendship with a local amateur violin maker, who we have had the good fortune of getting to know during our stay in the quaint village of Berceto in the Appenine mountains.
The flames are pronounced and the greyish hue of the wood lends itself extremely well to a worn and aged varnish.

Tonally, this violin is vibrant and expressive. The lower register is full and warm, while the upper range projects with clarity and brilliance. Its quick response and dynamic flexibility make it well-suited for both solo performance and ensemble playing, offering both power and nuance.

Designed with both tradition and playability in mind, this instrument is a respectful homage to one of history’s most influential violin makers. Whether in the hands of a dedicated student or a seasoned performer, it is ready to embark on its musical journey residing currently in Japan.
