The back is carved from a unique piece of local Italian maple wood called “Oppio”. These precious piece of wood fell into our hands thanks to a wonderful friendship with a local amateur violin maker, who we have had the good fortune of getting to know during our stay in the quaint village of Berceto in the Appenine mountains. The ames are pronounced and the greyish hue of the wood lends itself extremely well to a worn and aged varnish. Tonally, this violin is vibrant and expressive. The lower register is full and warm, while the upper range projects with clarity and brilliance. Its quick response and dynamic exibility make it well-suited for both solo performance and ensemble playing, offering both power and nuance. Designed with both tradition and playability in mind, this instrument is a respectful homage to one of history’s most inuential violin makers. Whether in the hands of a dedicated student or a seasoned performer, it is ready to embark on its musical journey residing currently in Japan. Wood: We exclusively use a selection of high-quality tonewoods when crafting our instruments. The maple wood is most commonly of Balkan origin, but we also use locally sourced Italian maple, known as Oppio, which has a higher density and a distinctive greyish hue that lends itself well to antique-style varnishes. Our spruce wood for the soundboard comes from Val di Fiemme, where a unique microclimate fosters a regular growth pattern, making it renowned worldwide for its use in instrument making. Varnish: The varnish we use is an oil-based varnish made with natural resins and pigments. Although the base formula has remained the same for several years, the results vary slightly each time, adding to the uniqueness of each instrument. Sound: This violin boasts a rich and expressive voice, with a warm, full-bodied lower register and a clear, brilliant upper range. Its responsive nature allows for effortless articulation, while its dynamic exibility makes it equally suited for intimate solo performances and ensemble settings, offering both depth and renement.Share:
