Contemporary Style

Finished in a warm reddish-amber varnish, this 2020 violin is a contemporary take on the elegance of Gaetano Sgarabotto’s work, founder of the first violin making school in Parma. Its clean, luminous finish enhances the natural beauty of the wood, allowing the graceful curves and refined craftsmanship to take center stage.
Read More Our appreciation for this particular model dates back to our school days, when its balance, elegance, and tonal depth first captured our attention. Over the years we have sought to perfect this model including enlarging the f-holes for easier sound post adjustment.

The back is carved from a beautifully figured piece of Balkan maple with subtle organic flames. The top, made from Val di Fiemme spruce, was chosen for its resonance and responsiveness, contributing to a well-balanced and expressive voice.

Sonically, this violin offers a warm, inviting tone with depth and clarity. The lower register is smooth and velvety, while the upper notes project with sweetness and refinement.

With its elegant outline and corners and flowing purfling, this instrument reflects the influence of Sgarabotto’s precise style carried over into a contemporary Italian violin making designed to be both reliable and inspiring.
