Elegant, deep flames sweep across the back of this violin, a 2024 homage to the craftsmanship of Gaetano Sgarabotto. This instrument pays tribute to the refined and expressive style of the early 20th-century Italian school, blending tradition with the precision and reliability of a modern violin.
Read More The back is crafted from a beautifully figured piece of Balkan maple, carefully aged to enhance its stability and tonal qualities. The top, made of select Alpine spruce, was sourced from the same region favored by master makers for centuries. These materials, combined with Sgarabotto’s elegant model, contribute to a warm, rich sound with exceptional depth and clarity.

The varnish of this violin is a reddish with subtle golden highlights, applied with techniques to create a soft yet luminous patina. The scroll, delicately carved with a graceful flow, showcases our attention to detail, while the f-holes retain the refined elegance characteristic of Sgarabotto’s style. The body’s balanced proportions and flowing curves allow for both aesthetic beauty and acoustic efficiency.

Sonically, this violin stands out with its velvety, resonant tone. Its lower register is deep and expressive, while the upper range sings with clarity and brilliance. The instrument responds effortlessly, making it a joy to play in both intimate chamber settings and larger concert halls.

This violin has already begun its journey and is currently across the world in Australia. We hope it will find a home where it will continue to shine for generations to come.
