The story behind our instruments

The Team
Coming from different ends of Europe, Denmark and Italy, it seemed unlikely that our paths should cross. However, our shared passion for music and craftsmanship led us to apply for the Violin Making School of Parma, where we first met in 2014.
During our five years of education, we had the privilege of studying under the guidance of renowned craftsmen such as Renato & Elisa Scrollavezza, Andrea Zanrè, Frédéric Noharet and Michele Dobner. During our second year of study, we established a spare time workshop, allowing us to further refine our skills and nurture our talents.
In 2019 we made the bold decision to establish our own professional workshop specializing in the construction of modern and antique style instruments.
To continuously expand our knowledge, we attend membership courses offered by the VSA and actively participate in various masterclasses. We also enjoy the vicinity to Cremona in order to keep in contact with several colleagues with whom we can confront our work. We spent a year being in close contact with Luiz Amorim further pursuing the art of antique style instruments.
Philosophy
Just like the rings of a tree mark its years, shaped by the changing seasons, our craft continues to evolve, nurtured by experience, tradition, and innovation. Our roots are grounded in a deep appreciation for the heritage to which we belong, while our branches extend towards new horizons. Every instrument we create is the result of this evolution: from the past to the future, from raw materials to the finished piece, from our workshop in Italy to your hands.
Violin making, as a craftsmanship, has changed very little over the last 400 years, and today we enjoy the privilege of possessing that very inheritance of knowledge and experience. However, thanks to advancements in science and access to modern techniques, we are well-equipped to carry violin making further into the 21st century. A powerful sound combined with comfort of playing is of the utmost importance to us.
During the construction process, every acoustic detail is carefully observed and studied to ensure maximum performance. The aesthetic qualities are equally important. We humans are visual creatures, and it’s our hope and ambition that each of our instruments becomes not only a reliable tool but also a source of artistic inspiration to the musician in whose hands it ends up.

Violin Makers Awards
- Silver Medal won at the Piacenza competition, 2023.
- Winner of the Maggi Award at the A.N.L.A.I. International Violin Making Competition in Pisogne, 2022 (Italian Violin Makers Association).

The Workshop
Our workshop is situated in Parma, a city steeped in musical history that has hosted renowned figures such as Giuseppe Verdi, Arturo Toscanini, and Giovanni Battista Guadagnini.
It was also in Parma that the esteemed Gaetano Sgarabotto founded the Parma School of Violin Making in 1927. Although the school experienced a period of closure, Maestro Renato Scrollavezza revived the craft in 1975, remaining an active and inspiring mentor until shortly before his passing in 2019.
We are committed to following in the footsteps of our masters and will continue to operate our workshop in this beautiful city with its rich history.
